Sisterly Love at its Best

It all started (well before) January 18th, 1986. Twins Lauren Gail and Lindsey Beth came into the world 3 months early. Luckily, their mom Cindy, worked at the hospital in Houston and was admitted immediately. Their dad, Les, was getting ready to get on a plane for a guy's trip to Vegas. Out of a movie, right? The voice on the intercom said, "Les Fox, you have a call." Back then, cell phones didn't exist so my mom couldn't Tweet, Facebook, BBM or Text my dad.

He immediately got off the plane and headed to the hospital. We arrived at 2.0lbs and 2.4lbs respectively. Both of us had many issues and the doctor's were worried about Lauren and her lung development and about Lindsey having mental retardation issues. Luckily, both girls went home on their due date (April 8th) completely healthy.

Lauren, being 2 minutes older, quickly became the trendsetter of the family and Lindsey soon followed. The girls started picking out their own clothes in Kindergarten to express their personalities. Lauren and Lindsey always did everything together. Lauren took up dance and Lindsey took up tennis and each tried out the other's sport. That didn't go over so well.

Throughout their lives Lauren and Lindsey were close had the same group of friends. The decision to attend different colleges became and idea and the girls weren't ready for that. Although we had different best friends within the larger group of friends, this would be the first time the girls were apart.

Lauren attended American University in Washington, DC and Lindsey decided on Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. It was extremely difficult for the girls to get used to communicating via phone, text, iChat or any other electronic device only. Many visits were planned (thanks Mom and Dad). This truly started our relationship. We talked about 4 times a day in between classes and sorority meetings.

Today, Lauren lives in Los Angeles and Lindsey in Chicago. Although we are on different coasts, we always find time to talk to each other. Being twins, people always ask us if we feel each others feelings and no, this isn't true but we always know when to help the other. Our bond is strong and we have a passion for food, cooking and spending time with our family.
